To be honest, we’re more of a workout group than a Triathlon team, and our members include parts of the MIT community at all levels (undergrads, grad students, faculty, and post-docs alike). We have a variety of workouts together, from spinning sessions and long bike rides to open water swims. That being said, we also participate in a variety of races, including sprint and Olympic distance triathlons, duathlons, cycling races, and yes, some of our members even do races at the Ironman and Half-Ironman level.
However, even though some of our members have participated at that level, we also have members of our team that have never raced before, and there is definitely no “minimum level of fitness” required in order to join.
